Learning to swim as an adult can be a very frightening and confronting experience. Whether the learning process has been delayed because of a bad experience as a child, or simply because the opportunity or desire was never there before, generally speaking, a great deal of fear and uncertainty has to be overcome before a beginner adult is comfortable in the water.

Our mission is to make your experience in the water as comfortable and safe as possible. Our caring and experienced instructors and coaches teach water safety skills as well as swimming strokes to maximise your enjoyment of the water.

We work one-on-one with our Beginner Adults. The instructors are either in or out of the water, depending on the level of ability and confidence of the client.

There is no age limit for learning to swim. We have clients in their 20’s to their 60’s. Anyone and everyone are welcome to come and learn with us.

Our Adult Beginner Swimmers are classified into three levels:

Level 1:

Absolute beginner. This level deals with basic water familiarity, mobility and safety skills such as getting in and out of a pool, putting faces in the water for the first time, learning to blow bubbles, walking through the water, gliding, floating and sculling. A great deal of emphasis is placed on building confidence in the water at this level. Swimming distance is usually 10-15m at a time.

Level 2:

This level builds on the skills learned in Level 1 and starts to introduce Freestyle and Backstroke, which are broken down into kicking, breathing and arm drills. Swimming distance is usually 15m at a time, building to 25m in stages.

Level 3:

This level continues the learning process all the way from Level 1 and starts to introduce Breaststroke as well. By this time, clients are learning to enter the deep water confidently, and regularly swim to the deep end of the pool unaided. Clients begin to start perfecting their strokes as their confidence in the water is much higher and they can really focus on improving. Swimming distance is usually 25m at a time.
